lilla fjallstugan

Lilla Fjallstugan is a renovated mountain condo combining Scandinavian design with the rustic South Lake Tahoe outdoors. It is inspired by Emerald Bay's Scandinavian history and furnished with handmade details. Restaurants and the lake are within walking distance. This getaway is perfect for solo or coupled travelers who are looking for an out of the box retreat, with privacy and the daily necessities of a home.

I fell in love with the country homes outside of Stockholm and was inspired to design an organic Swedish living space hand-crafted from nature, thrift stores and some personal art. Lilla Fjallstugan is Swedish for "Little Mountain Cabin". The concept of the space is to disconnect from city life. However it is equipped with wifi if you are inclined to stay in touch with the media world or watch a flick. You can soak yourself in an indoor bath-tub or the hot-tub by the pool (only open in summer). Perhaps grind some beans to make french pressed coffee, play some board games or read a book from the library collection.

Lilla Fjallstugan is on the calmer part of South Lake Tahoe yet still close enough to everything you need. There are trails literally behind the apartment where you can catch a glimpse of lake Tahoe or if you want to touch the waters of lake tahoe, you can cross the street and follow the 1 mile trail down to Pope Beach. Emerald Bay, Fallen Leaf lake, Camp Richardson and other attractions are all along Emerald Bay Road. The ski slopes and casinos are only a 15 min drive away. The supermarket, organic grocery store, cafes, restaurants and thrift stores are less than a 5 min drive. If you are looking for a true tahoe experience, this is where you want to be....:)

We cannot say enough wonderful things about this condo. It’s was exactly the style we love; minimal yet cozy. We loved the attention to detail when it came to keeping things natural and simple. The location of the condo was ideal! After all the sight seeing, and hiking we did, it was heaven to come back to such a “home like” feeing and take a “million dollar bath” and sleep in a “million dollar bed.” Those two things were my favorite! So plush and comfy! We would recommend this condo over and over again to anyone. Thank you again Su!!!

Su's condo in South Lake Tahoe was the perfect home away from home for my week long stay. It is beautifully decorated, spotlessly cleaned and fully equipped with all the essentials, including a soaker tub and great examples of her art—a perfect place for the single traveler or couple. It is also conveniently located close to stunning views of the Emerald Bay, forests, hiking trails and a great grocery, yet far enough away from the seasonal traffic sometimes seen in Lake Tahoe. She is a great communicator, offers helpful comments and provides wonderful tips on making your stay comfortable. I will happily return whenever I'm ever in the area again.

Su's place is the hidden gem in South Lake Tahoe. It's perfect for a couple, and it offers a wonderful place with all amenities and more. Location is perfect and not too far from what Lake Tahoe has to offer. There's a bit of everything in every corner. From the variety of board games (it had been a while since I played a good game of checkers and Monopoly) to the delightful book selection (which I personally enjoyed the Frida Kahlo one). I'd be happy to book again in the future. Thank you Su for making Lilla Fjallstugan a great place to stay!

Su was super communicative, and quick to reply. Her space is AMAZING. We were looking for a place away from the city to disconnect, relax, and read some books and her place was perfect. She provided board games, a variety of books and a super cozy place to enjoy all of that. Would love to be back there again someday. Thank you, Su. :)
